ABOUT THE DIRECTORS

 

Dr Bruce and Nellie Litchfield

 

 

Dr Bruce and Nellie Litchfield, directors of the Family Resource Centre Canberra (YWAM), have been active members of Youth With A Mission since 1986.

They have also been professional counsellors and family therapists for more than 14 years. They have a special interest and expertise in marriage and family therapy, addiction therapy and sexual therapy.

They are the authors of 12 books on family issues and counselling.

Following a major life crisis in 1985, Bruce left his specialised dental practice and started studying for a new career that lead him to attain a Diploma in Biblical Studies at Vision College in Sydney in 1986, a Bachelor of Christian Ministry at Rhema College of External Studies in Queensland, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in counselling in 1991 at Vision International University in California. Nellie completed the Diploma of Biblical Studies at Vision College of Ministry in Sydney in 1987, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in counselling at the University of the Nations in Hawaii.

Engaged in professional therapy practice for 14 years since 1992 in Canberra (Australia), Bruce and Nellie counselled as a husband and wife team. They have a special interest and expertise in marriage and family therapy, addiction therapy, sexual therapy and individual psychotherapy. Bruce still does some dentistry but his main interest is in pioneering family ministry, teaching, and writing.

Bruce and Nellie are founders and the international directors of the Australian Institute of Family Counselling (AIFC), the largest counselling training organisation in Australia, with a view to training up accredited counsellors. Bruce is also the president of AIFC. AIFC conducts a three year training program culminating in a post-graduate Vocational Graduate Certificate in Counselling and Family Therspy (Christian).

They are currently are the directors of the Family Resource Centre Canberra (YWAM).

FRCC conducts Family Ministry Schools and seminars—in Australia and overseas (especially in Eastern Europe, Africa, Korea and China)—on family, marriage, parenting, sexuality, addiction, counselling and leadership.

They have travelled to more than 100 countries and conducted seminars in 42 of them.
